Junior Member Policy

Fry's Hockey Club is committed to implementing good practice which will protect young people from harm. All members, coaches and umpires accept and recognise their responsibility under the Protection of Children's Act (1989) to provide the safest possible environment for children and young people.

The club implements this policy by:

Recognising that all junior members have the right to freedom from abuse.
Fostering an awareness of the issues which may lead to junior members being harmed.
Appoint a Welfare Offier(s) who will take specific responsibility for junior members' protection and act as the main contact point for parents, juniors, coaches and visiting clubs and their officials.
Ensuring that all our volunteers and staff are carefully selected and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of junior members in their care.
Ensuring access to confidential information is restricted to the appropriate members.
Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions or allegations of abuse, providing parents and junior members with the opportunity to voice any concerns which they may have.
Keeping up to date with current good practice and guidance on coaching, teaching and leading.
Review the effectiveness of this policy annually.
